Inkberrow Players
"It runs in the family"

Taken from the Evesham Journal

With economic gloom filling the headlines Inkberrow Players served up a real tonic with their production of "It Runs in the Family" by Ray Cooney which they presented at Inkberrow Village Hall for three nights.

Set in a hospital it revolves around the attempts of Dr David Mortimer (Tim Cole) to present a speech to a group of eminent colleagues whilst learning that a youthful affair led to his having a son-now aged eighteen, who is in the building intent on finding his real father. The twists and turns of this complicated plot result in some truly hilarious situations and the cast made full use of these to produce an uproarious evening. With all the players giving their utmost it is perhaps invidious to mention just a few but Tim Cole was outstanding and maintained his role in a performance which required him to be on stage throughout the evening. David Ballard in a cameo role as an elderly wheelchair bound patient, had the audience in fits of laughter as did Ian James's final speech as the befuddled Police Sergeant.

Congratulations too to Elliot Dean as the eighteen year old son, both threatening punk and vulnerable teenager- The Players' needn't worry about their future with such talent to draw on. As ever a polished performance from all involved and a most enjoyable evening.

Inkberrow Twinning Association

Biennial French Visit: 22 May – 25 May 2010

We are delighted to report that this year’s visit of our friends from Bray-sur-Somme has been hailed as an outstanding success. Spearheaded by newly elected French president, Bernard Fremaux, we received many old friends, some who have been involved with twinning since its inception, and pleasingly, we welcomed an infusion of enthusiastic young families and teenagers visiting Inkberrow for the first time.

The French coach arrived early Saturday evening with 36 people on board and an enjoyable reunion and reception, including speeches from our respective presidents, took place in St. Peter’s Church Hall.

Sunday day was spent with hosting families then the evening brought together French and English alike for a convivial, shared supper at Church Lench Village Hall. We were entertained by morris dancers and Scottish country dancers and much gaiety was evidenced when, after the demonstrations, people were invited to participate!

A trip to Blenheim Palace had been arranged for Monday with coffee and cakes on arrival, followed by a very upbeat French guided tour of the state rooms. Several people took the opportunity to stroll into Woodstock for lunch and a spot of shopping whilst at Blenheim.

Monday evening was spent back with the hosting families ready for an early Tuesday morning departure from the Village Green and in keeping with our tradition of 22 years, Auld Lang Syne was sung before making our emotional farewells.

Special thanks to everyone, including the magnificent weather, for helping to make this a memorable weekend, and to those “new twinning members” who accommodated new French families at short notice; and to existing twinning members too, who also hosted other new people, where for some, it would have been their first visit to England.
